FERAL ANIMAL CONTROL

DECEMBER 2021

Last week we had the best brains we know on the job, what these men don’t know about controlling feral animals such as foxes, cats, pigs and deer isn’t worth knowing.

Rodney Ranken has been catching pest animals all his life and has had over 30 years experience in this valley. He can outfox any critter as he knows how they think, travel and sleep.

Dr Andrew Claridge brings an extraordinary clarity to everything by ignoring emotive responses and bringing it back to science. He is currently involved in a Dept of Primary Industries study that is tasked with demystifying broad acre feral cat control.

We installed 12 wildlife cameras around the property to capture an understanding of what feral animals exist and what their movements are. This baseline knowledge will inform our decisions on how to roll out a broad scale, considered eradication program to protect the important endangered species that we have at Yambulla such as bandicoots and potoroos.
